Chelsea Flower Show 2011

Entitled “Hae-woo-so (Emptying One’s Mind)”, this tranquil and unusual garden featured a traditional Korean toilet as its centrepiece. The design was inspired by the Korean belief that emptying the body also helps to cleanse the mind and is highly cathartic. As well as winning the prestigious Gold medal, the garden was named Best Artisan Garden.

Communicating via an interpreter, Gardenlink helped to achieve the designer's aim of creating a traditional garden by using reclaimed materials and aged boulders. The planting consisted of restful shades of green with touches of colour in the wild flowers.
