Chelsea Flower Show 2012

Created to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Korean conflict, this gold-medal winning garden was based on the demilitarised zone between North and South Korea (DMZ), which has now become a haven for unusual plants and birds. An imposing watch tower, barbed wire fencing, thousands of Korean plants, a meandering stream and a walkway of buttons and bullets were just some of the features used to recreate the intriguing landscape.

The garden was further honoured with the coveted President’s Award for its beautiful and natural planting and its attention to detail -- the first time ever that the award has been given to a show garden.
